In March of 2003, I experienced every mother’s worse nightmare when our 18-year-old son, Doug, was killed in a car accident. Everything. I thought I knew about God and my reality collided, and it brought me to my knees. The emotional and spiritual turmoil that ensued was greater than I could have ever imagined. Feeling torn up inside does not mean we lack faith. It does not make us bad Christians. We are not letting God down. It means we are human and in need of God more.
